WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Learn how to restore your treasured antiques or contemporary furniture with experienced woodworking teacher, Richard Coles. Students are encouraged to bring along furniture in need of restoration to apply the learned techniques to their own pieces during the workshop. Suitable for all levels of expertise.

TECHNIQUES

You will learn many techniques including but not limited to;

  • How to apply oils, varnishes and wax finishes

  • Wood carving techniques (special requests)

  • Traditional joinery such as dowel, mortise and tenon techniques.

CLASS SIZES

  • Small group (maximum 4 students), or

  • Individuals (1-on-1)

OUTCOMES

Some of the pieces our students have restored include: 

  • A Canadian Birdseye Maple occasional chair in that had been painted over several times

  • Commissioned Gympie Messmate modern coffee table that needed refinishing 

  • English Oak antique carver chair that required repair of a broken leg
